European Challenges: The Hungarian perspective
4. oktober 2018 kl. 15.00 - 16.00 CEST
Hungary has been a member of the EU since 2004 and the population is highly supportive of EU membership. According to the latest PEW research, 67 pct. of the population supports EU membership. However, a dispute has arisen over whether Hungary is compliant or not with the Lisbon Treaty in relation to core EU values. On the 12th of September 2018, the European Parliament debated and voted for invoking article 7 of the Lisbon Treaty against Hungary. If adopted, the European Council might suspend Hungary’s voting rights.
