The Ukraine House in Denmark and The Danish Foreign Policy Society are honored to invite you to an extraordinary panel discussion, "Human Rights in the Shadow of War: Perspectives from Ukraine", featuring two remarkable individuals whose courage, resilience, and dedication have made them global voices in the defense of human rights amidst war and occupation.

About the Speakers
Stanislav Aseyev is a celebrated Ukrainian writer, journalist, human rights activist and a veteran of the Russo-Ukrainian war, born in Donetsk. From 2015 through 2017 Aseyev published reports under the name Stanislav Vasin for Ukrainian media. In June 2017 he disappeared, kidnapped by militants from the so called ‘Donetsk Peoples Republic’. Aseyev was sentenced to 15 years prison and spent 962 days behind bars. He was released as part of a prisoner exchange on 29 December 2019. His best-known work is the novel The Torture Camp on Paradise Street (2020) chronicles his harrowing experience and serves as a testament to the resilience of the human spirit.
 
Olga Skrypnyk, Chairwoman of the Crimean Human Rights Group (CHRG), has been at the forefront of documenting and addressing human rights violations in Russian-occupied Crimea since 2014. Through her leadership, CHRG has become a vital voice for those silenced under occupation, championing justice and dignity in the face of systemic oppression.
 
We will discuss:
- The lived realities of occupation in Donetsk and Crimea.
- The human cost of war and the fight to preserve dignity and identity.
- Strategies for defending human rights under the shadow of hybrid warfare.
