On Friday 24 February, on the one year anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Ukraine House opens in Copenhagen. We invite you to the official opening of the house, which will be initiated by speeches by Jakob Engel-Schmidt, Minister for Culture of Denmark, Mykhailo Vydoinyk, Ambassador of Ukraine to the Kingdom of Denmark, and Nataliia Popovych, chairperson, Ukraine House in Denmark.

Following this, we will have a panel discussion on the role of culture in the resilience of the Ukrainian society and its democratic future. The debate will be moderated by Charlotte Flindt Pedersen, and the panelist are

• Dr. Serhii Plokhiy, the Mykhailo Hrushevsky professor of Ukrainian history at Harvard University, director of the Harvard Ukrainian Research Institute, author of numerous texts on the history of Eastern Europe and Ukraine.

• Dr. Fred Rosen, director, the Nordic Center for Cultural Heritage and Armed Conflict, Adjunct Associate Professor at Department of Cross-Cultural and Regional Studies at the University of Copenhagen.
• Nataliia Popovych, chairperson, Ukraine House in Denmark, co-founder of Resilient Ukraine, UCMC and One Philosophy, board member of the Ukrainian Institute.

Afterwards, we will serve Ukrainian wine and pastries and invite you on a tour of the house and the gallery, which features the exhibition “The muses are not silent”, an art exhibition that includes over a hundred paintings, sculptures, architecture, and video art created during the war by more than fifty artists from all over Ukraine.

The Ukrainian House’s work focuses on creating a lasting positive impact on the Ukrainian-Danish collaboration, security, and lasting peace in Europe by facilitating robust intercultural dialogue, multi-disciplinary projects and programmes between people and institutions, promoting Ukraine’s cultural heritage, modern culture and entrepreneurship, creating opportunities for Ukraine and Denmark in the future.
