The Challenge from China w. Sarah Kirchberger

We are delighted to invite you to our upcoming event featuring Dr. Sarah Kirchberger as the keynote speaker.

Sarah Kirchberger is one of the few European specialists in China’s security policy.

Serving as the Head of Asia-Pacific Strategy and Security at the Institute for Security Policy at Kiel University (ISPK), her extensive research encompasses areas such as maritime security in the Asia-Pacific, Russia-China military-industrial relations, China’s arms industries, and the evolution of China’s naval capabilities.

Join us when Dr. Kirchberger illuminates the security policy aspects of China’s foreign policy in the coming years.

Ambassador (ret) Carsten Søndergaard will introduce Sarah Kirchberger.

Director of the Foreign Policy Society, Charlotte Flindt Pedersen, will moderate the discussion.

The meeting will be in English. Following Dr. Kirchberger’s keynote address, there will be a moderated discussion and an opportunity for audience questions.

Dr. Sarah Kirchberger is the Head of Asia-Pacific Strategy and Security at the Institute for Security Policy at Kiel University (ISPK). She is also a Nonresident Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council, and since 2020 serves as the Vice President of the German Maritime Institute (DMI). She holds a PhD and an MA in Sinology from the University of Hamburg. She is the author of Assessing China’s Naval Power: Technological Innovation, Economic Constraints, and Strategic Implications (Springer, 2015) and co-author of The China Plan: A Transatlantic Blueprint for Strategic Competition(Atlantic Council, 2021).
