U35: Is the Grass Really Greener in China?

25. november 2025   18.00 - 20.30

A part of U35’s event-series: Giants of Asia

China plays a central role in the global green transition. As the world’s largest emitter of CO₂ – but also the largest investor in green energy - the country’s climate efforts influence both the EU and the rest of the world.
How far has China actually come in its green transformation? What political and economic forces are driving this development, and how do ordinary Chinese citizens view sustainability and the environment?
At this event, you’ll gain insights into China’s green policies, the country’s role in international climate efforts, and the implications for European actors.

The evening features three presentations by experts on China’s green business sector and environmental policy, followed by a panel discussion with an opportunity for audience questions.

We will be joined by:
•
Yi Ma, PhD and Assistant Professor at the University of Copenhagen, who will introduce China’s green transition - its ambitions, policies, and rhetoric.
•
Kaare Sandholt, Chief Expert (International) at the China Energy Transformation Programme, will share insights on China’s energy transition, exploring how far the country has come and the challenges that remain on the road away from coal.
•
Mads Vesterager Nielsen, Co-founder and Analyst at Sinolytica, will discuss Sino-Danish green cooperation, from diplomacy to clean-tech collaboration.
