U35: Germany's Rearmament in a Changing World
8. oktober 2025 17.30 - 19.30
The Danish Foreign Policy Society U35, YATA Denmark, and European Horizons invite you to a security policy panel debate on what Germany’s rearmament means for Europe’s security.
Germany is rearming. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, decades of European defense neglect, and the U.S. pivot to Asia have all challenged Germany’s long-standing military restraint. Like many neighbors, it is now investing heavily in defense. But German rearmament also carries weighty political and historical implications - hence Germans call this shift a “Zeitenwende.”
To shed light on this historic development and its consequences for Europe’s security, we have invited three highly qualified panelists:
• Jacob Kaarsbo, and independent defence policy analyst with a background in the Danish Defence Intelligence Service (FE) and the Think Tank Europe.
• Markus Bollmohr, Deputy Head of Mission at the German Embassy in Denmark.
• Marlene Wind, Professor of political science and Director at the Center for European Politics (CEP) at the University of Copenhagen.
A light dinner will be served after the event.
