The End Stage of Russian Colonialism: A New Agenda for European Security
22. september 2025 16.00 - 17.30
What will it take to finally bring lasting security to Ukraine and its neighbors?
After nearly four years of full-scale Russia’s war in Ukraine, one thing has become clear: peace cannot be achieved through negotiations with a regime that remains aggressively imperialist at its core. As long as Russia retains its colonial ambitions and centralized power, it will continue to threaten Ukraine, Europe, and global stability.
The Danish Foreign Policy Society in partnership with Ukraine House in Denmark invites you to a panel discussion on “The End Stage of Russian Colonialism: A New Agenda for European Security” where we will explore: the potential paths for decolonization and emergence of new, independent states; how the imperial nature of the Russian state drives aggression against its neighbors; why the future security of Europe depends on Russia’s transformation.
Presentations:
Please note that due to unforeseen circumstances, Janusz Bugajski will be unable to attend. We are pleased to announce that Juraj Mesík will be speaking in his place.
• Janusz Bugajski, senior Fellow at the Jamestown Foundation, a leading voice on post-Russia futures, with authorship of 24 books on Europe, Russia, and trans-Atlantic relations. He is the author of the anthology “Free Nations, New States: The End Stage of Russian Colonialism.”
• Juraj Mesík, Slovak civic activist, analyst, and writer affiliated with the Slovak Foreign Policy Association
• Yaroslav Yurchyshyn, member of the Ukrainian Parliament
• Oleg Magaletsky, founder of the Free Nations of Post-Russia Forum
Discussion:
• Charlotte Flindt Pedersen, Director, The Danish Foreign Policy Society
• Jacob Kaarsbo, Intelligence and Security Analyst, Russia-focused Strategic Expert
